The perfect Dog Rocks ratio
Share
Dog Rocks work best at a simple, consistent ratio: one 200g pack for every 2 litres (0.44lb) of water your dog drinks from a single bowl. Keeping to this “perfect ratio” helps the rocks filter out impurities effectively so your lawn stays greener and healthier.
The golden rule is: 200g (0.44lb) of Dog Rocks to 2 litres of water. For most standard dog bowls, that means using one full 200g pack per bowl and keeping that bowl topped up rather than emptied and refilled from scratch several times a day. If your dog has more than one water source, each bowl (up to 2 litres) needs its own full pack for the rocks to work properly.
Don’t forget, you can also put Dog Rocks in a jug or pitcher of water and decant from that into your dog’s water bowl. That way the Rocks sit and work their magic and you can top up your dog’s water when ever needed.
How to use them day to day
Before using, rinse the rocks to remove any natural dust, then place the full pack directly into your dog’s water bowl. Let them sit in the water for around 8–10 hours before your dog drinks, as this contact time is what allows Dog Rocks to start filtering the water effectively. After that, simply keep topping up the bowl, replacing the rocks every two months to maintain performance.
Adjusting for your household
If you have a very large drinker, multiple dogs, or several bowls, stick to the same ratio: at least 200g of rocks for every 2 litres of water in each container. Some owners like to keep a jug or pitcher treated with Dog Rocks and pour from that into the bowl, which can be helpful if dogs like to play with the rocks. Once the right ratio for your set-up is in place, you give Dog Rocks the best chance to protect your lawn consistently, season after season.
